Self Improvement Exercises for Everyone
By Robert Smith
Self improvement exercises vary depending on the area of your
life you would like to improve. The one thing that each of them
has in common is that they are positive. If you dont
underestimate the power of positive thinking, you can change
your life. Here are a few suggestions.
Make a Daily Affirmation
Decide what it is that you want to accomplish or change about
your life. Write down a few simple sentences that describe your
short- and long-term goals. For example, you might say this.
Today, I will exercise and eat right, because I want to
look and feel better. If your goal is to improve your self-image,
you might say something like this: I am beautiful, kind,
intelligent and talented. I love myself and everything that I
do.
You should stand in front of the mirror and look yourself
in the eye whenever you make your daily affirmation. You should
say it out loud. You might feel silly at first, but you will
be surprised by how much better you start to feel.
Remember to smile when you are doing these and other self
improvement exercises. Smiling improves your mood immediately.
Take a deep breath, too. Youll feel relaxed and in control.
Practice, Practice, Practice
Perhaps you want to be a painter, writer or pianist. A part
of your daily affirmation would be to work practice time into
your daily routine. Be specific about the time and include your
long-term goal. Today, I will play the piano from 6pm to
7pm. In three months, I plan to audition for the symphony.
Your daily affirmations are limited to just a couple of sentences,
but when you are ready to begin those self improvement exercises,
take some time to write out exactly what it is that you want
in great detail. Find pictures of what it is that you want.
For example, if you are saving to buy a new home, hang a picture
of the home of your dreams on the refrigerator or bathroom mirror.
Keep your goals in front of you, where you can see them. It is
too easy to let daily responsibilities interfere and cause you
to forget.
Make Use of Meditation, Physical Exercise and Deep Muscle
Relaxation
If you suffer from anxiety, fear, nervousness, depression
or you simply want to feel better every day, try a daily meditation.
Take a yoga class. Learn deep muscle relaxation techniques. And,
always remember to breathe.
Self improvement exercises work, as long as you are consistent.
