How do you create daily motivation?
Isn't this one of the biggest stumbling blocks in your path to
a better life and self improvement? You often know what you have
to do to accomplish something - at least the first few steps.
But you hesitate, something else catches your attention, or you
just don't feel like doing what you need to do.
Six Secrets Of Daily
Motivation
1. Fear. Hey, we all have it,
so why not use it? Some hit that snooze on the alarm clock until
fear of losing their job finally motivates them to get up. Fear
works. In NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) they teach you to
link pain with not acting. An imaginary scene of your wife walking
out the door with another man, as you sit there silently - that
might motivate you to have that talk you've been avoiding.
2. Desire. Seeing the rewards
of your effort clearly in your mind - that works well for some.
That's what motivates many people to sign up for get-rich-quick
plans. The good closers will have you driving that imaginary
sports car within thirty minutes, and then you'll do anything
to make it real. If they can motivate you, you sure can learn
how, right?
3. Health. Caffeine is a decent
substitute for health for a while, but one way or another, you
have to have some energy to have daily motivation. Exercise,
sleep well, and watch out or those sugary foods - they'll drag
you down quick.
4. True Interest. If you really
have no interest at all in what you are doing, maybe you need
to do something else. If it is just a task you dislike, however,
but it will help you get where you want to be, then you need
to remember that, and relate it clearly in your mind to the greater
goal. I don't like to drive, but when I remember those mountains
I'm going to, I get motivated to drive.
5. Mental State. No matter
how great the goal or rich the rewards, it's tough to be depressed
and motivated at the same time. Happier means more motivated,
so at least resolve some of your negative feelings.
6. Start. Just commit to raking
up one bag of leaves, and soon you'll want to finish the yard.
Start in any small way towards your goals, and it feeds your
daily motivation. Even just talking about the process can be
enough. By the time I tell my wife about the newsletter I'm going
to write, I'm out of my slump and back at the keyboard.
Okay, now that you have six
ways to have daily motivation, you have to actually put them
into practice. How do you get motivated to do that? You'll just
have to figure that one out yourself.
