Simple Stress Management
Stress is dangerous. To much is bad for your body, and it
gets in the way of your self growth. What can you do about it?
Well, first of all, it would be just too ironic and useless to
be stressed out over stress, so accept that it will always be
here. With some simple stress-management techniques, though,
you can have a much more relaxed life.
Easy Stress Management
1. Take several deep breaths through your nose. Close your
eyes, pay attention to your breathing, and let the tension drain
from your muscles while doing this. This is like a mini-meditation.
2. Leave the room. This really helps if the things stressing
you out are in the room or related to it. Just get out for a
little while.
3. Walk. This is a great stress management technique if you
have at least ten minutes to spare. The rhythmic nature of walking
is very relaxing. Even better if you find a pretty place to walk.
4. Get a hug. This one's a studied and proven stress-reducer.
As long as it's from somebody you don't mind hugging you, it
will relax you.
5. Break up your routine. Talk to that guy sleeping on the
bench, or eat lunch on the roof. Anything that breaks you out
of your habitual patterns can relieve stress.
6. Take a hot shower. The hot water relaxes your muscles,
the break from more stressful activities helps, and pleasure
seems to diminish stress.
4. Drink chamomile tea. Stress management doesn't get much
easier than this. Chamomile has a calming effect on the nerves.
If that's not strong enough, try valerian tea.
5. Watch your mind. If you can spot the stressors lurking
just below the surface (hunger, worry, a phone call you need
to make), you can resolve them and feel more relaxed.
6. Try laughing. You know from experience that this helps
you relax, right? Find the guy in the office that knows all the
best jokes, or just find something funny in front of you.
7. Put on relaxing music. Keep relaxing CDs at the office,
or wherever you'll need them most.
You absolutely can change yourself over time, so you're naturally
more relaxed. In the meantime, the stress management techniques
listed above really aren't difficult, so why not try one or two
today?
